Since 1987, the CIC Foreign Language Enhancement Program (FLEP) has provided scholarships to help graduate students take advantage of language offerings not available at their home university, but available at another CIC member university. Scholarships are intended to help cover living expenses incurred while attending another CIC host institution during the summer session.
The scholarships cover study at any other participating CIC university (Indiana University, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, University of Minnesota, Ohio State University, and Purdue University). FLEP scholarships may not be used for language study at a student's home institution and must be used for a credit bearing “less commonly taught” language course. Complete information is available here, including a link to the application form.
Applications are due to me by February 15, 2008.
FLEP recipients may also apply to the CIC Traveling Scholar Program which enables graduate students to pay tuition and fees at their home institution while attending another CIC university. More details on the CIC Traveling Scholar Program can be found here.
