Each May, I have the pleasure of hosting the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences Commencement Honors Reception. While the College does recognize high academic achievement at the commencement ceremony, this reception provides a more personal and informal way of expressing our pride and congratulations to these select students.

I have invited liberal arts and sciences students who will be graduating with Honors, one of the three levels of Distinction, or both to this event. This reception provides an opportunity for these students to introduce their parents, families, or guests to you and your colleagues who have helped them during their undergraduate years at The University of Iowa. I encourage you to share this memo with your faculty.

Please join me in welcoming these graduates and their families at our Commencement Honors Reception from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., on Friday, May 16, in the 2nd Floor Ballroom in the Iowa Memorial Union.
