Appointment to 0% Adjunct Faculty Status
Extension of Complimentary 0% Adjunct Appointment
If the department is interested in extending an adjunct faculty member, the department conducts a review in the final year of the current appointment. To extend the appointment, the department must submit a Change in Status - Faculty Status Change form, generated on the HR Transaction System.
Paid Appointment for Adjunct Faculty
When an adjunct on a complimentary 0% appointment undertakes some salaried duties (e.g., classroom teaching for a semester), the department submits an Adjunct Support form, generated on the HR Transaction System.
Paid adjunct faculty appointments must be less than half-time and do not carry fringe benefits.
Adjunct Appointments in the Center for Credit Programs
Adjunct faculty appointments to teach departmental courses funded by the Center for Credit Programs must be approved by the DEO and Dean Curto. For a discussion of the DEO’s and department’s responsibilities for courses sponsored by CCP, click here.
The department may initiate a complimentary 0% adjunct appointment for an individual who is expected to teach in departmental courses sponsored by the CCP.
The CCP initiates the adjunct support form for a salaried single-semester or academic-year appointment. The CCP prepares the form, with its own MFK and the approvals of the Director of the CCP and the Dean of Continuing Education.
Adjunct Appointments in the Graduate College
Adjunct faculty are not automatically members of the graduate faculty. To appoint an individual to graduate faculty status for a specific period or purpose (such as service on a thesis committee), the DEO applies to John Keller, Dean of the Graduate College.
