Opus Two will perform UI School of Music guest recital Sept. 4
Opus Two, the duo of violinist William Terwilliger and pianist Andrew Cooperstock, will perform music by Paul Schoenfield, Beethoven and Leonard Bernstein in a free University of Iowa School of Music guest recital at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, in University Capitol Centre. The new performance space for the School of Music is on the mall main floor, downtown Iowa City.
They will perform two works by Schoenfield, the Partita from 2002 and Four Souvenirs from 1989, as well as Four Moments from "Candide" by Bernstein and Beethoven's Sonata in G Major, Op. 30, No. 3.
The Four Moments from "Candide" is featured on their upcoming CD. They have also recorded an all-Schoenfield CD on the Azica label, "Souvenirs: Music of Paul Schoenfield."
Winners of the United States Information Agency's Artistic Ambassador Auditions in 1993, Opus Two embarked on a 30-concert tour of Latin America and the Caribbean, which launched them into a distinguished concert career on four continents, and appearances on NPR's "Performance Today."
Cooperstock is keyboard department chair at the University of Colorado, Terwilliger is chamber music director at the University of South Carolina. Visit http://www.opustwo.org/.
