President and Provost Award |
Professor Mangum has received the first-annual President and Provost Award For Teaching Excellence. The award was created in 2003-04 as a university-wide recognition for faculty members who have demonstrated a sustained high level of teaching. Each college is asked to nominate one faculty member for the award, which carries a $3,000 prize. Professor Mangum joined the College's faculty in 1990. She was named a Dean's Scholar in 1999 and a Faculty Scholar in 2003. She was the organizer of the Interdisciplinary Nineteenth-Century Studies Association annual meeting, held at Iowa in April 2004. Professor Mangum's teaching is excellent at every level of instruction, from her first year seminar on age and identity, through her heavily subscribed undergraduate courses on writing and literature, to her graduate research seminars on Victorian literature and culture.
