FACULTY ASSEMBLY AGENDA

The Faculty Assembly will meet Wednesday, February 20, 2008
from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.
in the Senate Chamber, Old Capitol

(The meeting will end promptly at 5:00 due to strict policies concerning the use of the Senate Chamber. Members should be sure to sign one of the attendance sheets.)

AGENDA

1. Discussion/Approval of the Minutes of the January 30, 2008 Faculty Assembly meeting. Draft minutes available here.

2. Brief Messages and Announcements.

3. Discussion of a proposal from the CLAS Executive Committee for an amendment to the College’s Manual of Procedure. The revised language reflects changes in the composition and duties of the Faculty Advisory Committee for Interdepartmental Studies as a result of the addition of pre-approved study plans to the interdepartmental studies major in 2006. If approved in Faculty Assembly, the amendment will be the subject of a faculty referendum in March 2008. Text of the changes available here. Associate Dean Helena Dettmer will attend and will be able to answer any questions.

4. Discussion of a proposal for a new minor in American Sign Language. Proposal details available here. Professor Richard Hurtig will be available to answer questions.

5. Discussion of a new “Creative Writing” special admission track in the English major. Details available here. Professor Jonathan Wilcox will attend to answer questions.

Guests are welcome to attend Faculty Assembly Meetings (and may speak with the permission of the Assembly),
but only Members may vote on issues before the Assembly.

Other Spring 2008 Meeting Dates: March 26; and April 23. Election of new officers will take place at the April meeting.

Questions about Faculty Assembly may be addressed to JoAnn Castagna (335-2632).
