Members should be sure to sign one of the attendance sheets.) AGENDA 1. Discussion/Approval of the Minutes of the February 20, 2008 Faculty Assembly meeting. Draft available here. 2. Brief Messages and Announcements. 3. Downing Thomas, Director, UI Center for Human Rights (UICHR) on the “One Community, One Book" project (OCOB). 4. Proposal from the Department of Philosophy for a new major in Law, Ethics, and Society. This proposal (please click for the proposal) converts a current CLAS certificate program, the PEOPLE certificate, into an interdisciplinary major called Law, Ethics, and Society. It has been approved by the Educational Policy Committee and if approved by the Faculty Assembly will go to the Provost for submission to the Regents. Professors Diane Jeske and Richard Fumerton will attend the meeting to answer questions. 5. Discussion with Executive Associate Dean Raúl Curto of Faculty CVs. Dean Curto will talk about purposes, procedures, formats, and stability and welcomes questions/concerns from Assembly members. Discussion with Executive Associate Dean Raúl Curto of Policies and Procedures related to English Language Proficiency and Teaching Assistants. See here for links to relevant information including the policy statement on Teaching Assistants’ Preparation in English and a Language Competency Flowchart. Guests are welcome to attend Faculty Assembly Meetings Other Spring 2008 Meeting Dates: April 23. Election of new officers will take place at the April meeting.
