Assistant professor in Chinese culture and institutions
The University of Iowa Department of Asian & Slavic Languages and Literatures invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at Assistant Professor level in modern/contemporary Chinese literature and culture, to begin August 20, 2008.
Qualified applicants are expected to hold the Ph.D. by date of appointment, possess fluency in modern standard Chinese, and provide evidence of excellence in scholarship.
Teaching and research specializations in one or more of areas such as cultural studies, cinema, gender studies, and theories of literature and modernity are desirable.
Responsibilities include
--teaching in both undergraduate and graduate programs,
--sustaining an active program of research, and
--contributing through teaching, research, and service to the diversity and excellence of our academic community.
