Curriculum: The Four-Year Graduation Plan

First-year students may sign a Four-Year Graduation Plan Agreement at orientation or at any time during their first two semesters in the College. Students who choose to participate in the Plan agree to comply with a number of conditions that guide their studies and their progress toward the degree. Most, but not all majors offered by the College of Liberal Arts and Science participate in the Four-year Graduation Plan. Each participating program provides guidelines in the form of "checkpoints" that mark the minimal departmental requirements to be completed by the beginning of the third, fifth, seventh, and eighth semester if a student is to graduate in four years.

Students who, at the time of registration, find that a needed course is unavailable should contact the department whose checkpoints they are following. The College guarantees certain remedies if the unavailability of a course would delay graduation of a student who meets the conditions of the Plan. These remedies are provided for only one major. Students who wish to earn two majors or two degrees or who add minors or certificates to their programs may not find it possible to make graduation plans that allow them to complete all the requirements within four years.

If a student does not meet the checkpoints or fails to meet the academic standards of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the guarantees of the agreement are voided.

The Office of Admissions has additional information on the The Four-Year Graduation Plan.
