Purpose: To recognize CLAS staff members for humanitarian, civic, or other service to the community that is performed on a volunteer basis.
*Community: University of Iowa, local, regional, national, international.
Objective: CLAS embraces the philosophy that each individual can make a difference in the quality of life of others through voluntary acts of service. The Community Leadership And Service nomination program provides a means to recognize and encourage individual voluntary contributions to the community.

Criteria: Recipients of the CLAS Award are CLAS staff members who have volunteered to enhance the quality of life of the community through:
• Contributions of time and talent
• Leadership
• Advancements or Innovation
• Service
Nominees will be considered on humanitarian, civic, or other service to the community.
Note: Service must be external to the candidate’s primary University responsibilities and performed without remuneration. Prior to completing the nomination form, please obtain permission from the nominee.
Eligibility: Full-time and part-time (at least 50% effort) budgeted CLAS staff are eligible to be nominated for volunteer acts of service that are taking place during the current fiscal year and/or took place last fiscal year.
We encourage ongoing nominations. Nominees will be listed on the CLAS Staff Recognition Committee website and will be honored and acknowledged at the CLAS Staff Recognition Reception in the Spring.
