Remove a Printer Driver...

There may be a time when a problem may only be resolved by removing a printer driver entirely from the local machine. The following steps may be performed to remove the driver, but it is advised that the machine be restarted if the driver was used (otherwise a message will be displayed to this affect when attempting to remove it).

  1. Open Printers and Faxes located on the Start menu (or within the Control Panel).
    • If using Vista: Open Printers located on the Start menu (or within the Control Panel).
  2. Right-click on any printers that utilize the driver to be deleted and select Delete.
    • If prompted, click the Yes button on the Printers window that appears.
    • If prompted, click the OK button to close the Printers window.
  3. Select the File | Server Properties menu item.
  4. Click the Drivers tab.
  5. Highlight the driver to be deleted, and then click the Remove button.
  6. If using Vista: Click the OK button on the window that appears to delete the driver.
  7. Click the Yes button on the window that appears to delete the driver.
  8. Click the Close button to close the Print Server Properties window.
  9. Close the Printers and Faxes window.
