Hurtig receives communication sciences and disorders award

Richard Hurtig will receive an "Honors of the Council" award in April from the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD). Hurtig, professor of speech pathology and audiology and the Starch Faculty Fellow in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, served as the council's president-elect, president and past president. He was instrumental in bringing together organizations to promote academic programs in accreditation issues. He also served on the CAPCSD Summer Institute planning committee and hosted the inaugural institute in 2007 at the UI. He chairs the CAPCSD advisory committee that is working on a centralized application service for speech-language pathology and audiology clinical programs.
