Amount:
- Equal to cost of tuition, fees, and books. For 2008-2009, this total is $7,584 for residents of Iowa and $21,698 for nonresidents.

Note: Shoemaker-Strickler Memorial Scholarships may be added to other University of Iowa Scholarships such as the Presidential Scholarship, Old Gold Scholarship, National Merit Scholarship, Provost's Scholarship, or Advantage Iowa Scholarship for a combined value not to exceed the total cost of education plus $1,000. The total cost of education is determined annually by the Office of Student Financial Aid and includes tuition, fees, room and board, books and supplies, and personal and transportation expenses.
- Must be an entering first year student
- Must have declared Chemistry or Physics as a major
- Must present an ACT composite score of 30 or above (a combined SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 1330 or above) and an Admission Index Score[ (2 X ACT composite) + high school percentile rank ] of 150 or above.
- NOTE: If your high school does not rank, you must present an ACT composite score of 30 or above (a combined SAT Critical Reading and Math score of 1330 or above) and a 3.90 cumulative high school grade point average (GPA) on a 4.00 scale.
- Renewable for a total of four years or to graduation, whichever comes first
- Must remain enrolled full-time as a Chemistry or Physics major
- Must maintain 3.50 University of Iowa grade point average
